DATALAB Talk: Health practice on Facebook
NB: This event has passed

DATALAB hosts talks on a regular basis where researchers present their project, knowledge and results. This time, Ph.D at the Aarhus University, Ane Kathrine Gammelby will present her learning on how Facebook-based peer-communities are used in health-related sense-making and decision-making processes.
The key issue will be:
Aren’t these just desperate self-helpers trusting unreliable health-information online?
What you will learn
As part of her pre-defence, Ane Kathrine will be presenting the state-of-the-art of her PhD project – a project inquires the role of social media when lay people struggle with recurring or long-term health-issues. More specifically, the project analyses how lay persons employ knowledge retrieved from Facebook-based peer-communities in their health-related sense-making and decision-making processes. A thesis seminar is a discussion of the progress and preliminary findings of a PhD project in progress.
Programme
- 14.00-14.10 – Presentation by Ane Kathrine Gammelby + Q&A
- 14.10-14.30 – Joint lunch and Christmas Celebration
